Jackie Phung

 

 

College Attending:  Virginia Tech

 

Jackie Phung was awarded a Sotera Defense Solutions scholarship.  Jackie is attending Virginia Tech where he plans to major in computer science.  Jackie is determined to succeed, and has overcome a serious speech disability which was exacerbated by the fact that his native language is Chinese.  It is a testament to his courage and his persistence that he was able to graduate with effective communication skills.  He spent many years tutoring elementary students in math at Bailey’s Elementary School library.
