Eligibilty and Criteria for Awards

In order to be eligible for Foundation awards, applicants must:

  • be a prospective J.E.B. Stuart High School graduate who has been at Stuart at least four semesters prior to graduation.
  • demonstrate financial need. This is based on ‘EFC’ [Expected Family Contribution] as determined by FAFSA or Foundation alternate financial form, and financial aid packages offered by colleges.

In addition to financial need (as determined by EFC), the following applicant characteristics are taken into account:

  • academic success & rigor of coursework
  • school commitment and activity
  • community involvement
  • commitments (e.g. family, jobs, etc.)
  • recommendations from Stuart faculty and community

A selection committee composed of community members, Foundation directors, guidance counselors and PTSA representatives is responsible for selecting recipients. Awards are determined on the basis of the above-listed criteria.
